  Last Updated 19 April 2001

If you are reading this because you are interested , the carry on. But if you are reading this because you need to, then please, please, contact me before you do any more damage.

To remove the case from the ECU, undo the 6 screws on the connector face (photo #1), and all 7 screws on the side of the unit (photo #2 - 4 screws that hold on the MEMCAL cover plate, and the 3 screws above the MEMCAL cover plate). Then remove the case by pulling the internals out via the connectors. You should then end up with sonmething that looks like photo #3.

Remove the metal screen by undoing 6 further screws. Remember how the unit goes back together !! Once you have done this, you will see that the ECU is made up of 2 circuit boards, connected by 3 ribbon cables. I am working on tracing out the circuit diagrams at the moment, and I'll post these up on the relavent page once they are done, hopefully in a week or two.

Top Board. The uppermost circuit board contains all the digital microprocessor circuitry, including the microprocessor itself. Click on the hyperlink for information on this card.

Bottom Board. The lower circuit coard contains the 4 ECU connectors, and all the power supply and I/O circuits and drivers. Click on the hyperlink for information on this card.
